You don’t need a professional coaching qualification, but you should have previous hockey coaching experience. From your first week, you’ll be involved on the pitch, so being comfortable running exercises and working with children is important.

No. Good school English is absolutely fine. English is the main language you’ll use within the project and with the Kasi team.

Yes. Driving is part of everyday Kasi life in Cape Town. The volunteers share the Kasi car to travel to the different project locations.

No. It’s a manual. You’ll also be driving on the left. Try and find a manual car that you can practice with. 

Hockey equipment for the training sessions is available locally. If you plan to play hockey yourself, bringing your own gear makes total sense. 

You might be the only hockey volunteer on your flight to Cape Town. Once arrived, you’ll never be alone anymore - unless you want to.  Groups of volunteers have reported becoming amazing teams and even close friends. It is very common that you spend your time off the pitch also in your volunteer group. Apart from your Kasi crew, there are always interesting people in the Villa from all over the world. Our advise: Go out, be open, connect and have fun!  For safety reasons, you should not do a training session alone. In case of sickness of parts of your group, reach out to us and we will figure out a way together. 

Currently, there are typically around four Kasi volunteers in Cape Town at the same time. We’re working towards teams of six to eight.

At Villa Viva in central Cape Town. You can choose between a dorm, a shared double room or a private room, subject to availability.
