TANZANIA
NATURE
OUTSIDE.
COMMUNITY
EVERYWHERE.
Moshi is green, welcoming and full of energy, right at the foot of Kilimanjaro. With only around 500 hockey players in a country of roughly 80 million people, there is huge potential to grow the game. Through hockey, we want to get kids moving, bring different backgrounds together and create space to play, connect and practise English. And beyond the pitch, schools and communities offer endless ways to get involved. Come curious, bring your hockey, and see where it takes you.

Your team.
You’ll start with your fellow Kasi Volunteers and the local hockey community, who are excited to grow the game together. In Moshi, one introduction often leads to the next — a coach knows a teacher, a teacher knows a school, and suddenly your network keeps growing.

Your day.
Most hockey happens in the afternoon, so your mornings are for planning sessions, visiting schools, helping out at a kindergarten or simply seeing where you can get involved. You might read, draw or speak English with children, support older students or develop a new activity with your team. And some mornings can simply mean slowing down, grabbing a coffee, exploring the area or enjoying a bit of free time. Stay curious, jump in and explore the endless opportunities to make an impact.
Off the pitch.
Moshi is a great place to simply live, with cafés, restaurants and plenty of nature close by. At a nearby hotel, you can use the gym or pool for an additional fee, or just grab a coffee, go for a hike or relax in the garden. We recommend 10 weeks volunteering plus 2 weeks travelling. Go on safari, hike Kilimanjaro or fly to Zanzibar. Tanzania offers you some of the most spectacular nature in the world.

The house will be renovated and partly refurnished before our first Volunteers move in, so the final look may differ slightly from the photos.
here for you.
at home and abroad.
You’re off to Tanzania — but you’ve got a team around you from day one. Whether it’s before departure or during your stay, there’s always someone close by to help, guide or simply check in.
costs & logistics.
Moshi can be surprisingly affordable day to day, so your biggest budget choices are usually flights and what you do while travelling.

On top of that, budget for food, travelling, health and travel insurance and personal spending. Flights, visa costs and personal travel vary depending on when and how you travel. Safaris, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar can add significantly to your budget. We’re happy to connect you with trusted local travel partners.
The Kasi fee covers the support around your placement: digital preparation and safeguarding, airport pickup, designated TukTuk driver, local coordination, regular check-ins with Kasi Germany, travel tips and ongoing project support.
SAFETY MATTERS
Moshi feels welcoming and easy to settle into. We expect you to respect local customs and recommend that you follow local advice. Remember that traffic drives on the left, so stay switched on when walking or crossing roads. Before departure, you will complete our mandatory safeguarding training, and we will brief you on safety, local culture and everyday behaviour. And if anything comes up, you’ll always have people around you to ask, talk to and rely on.
